Here at your Lake Shore Party Stores, we not only want to exceed your expectations of quality food, service, and atmosphere, but our hope is to be deeply rooted from the sense of family that has given us our rich history in this beloved community.
Years ago, Port Sheldon Party Store was formerly known as Dernberger's Bakery, and was owned by a kind couple from Chicago who annually vacationed in the area. The sweets and treats Dernberger's continued to grow in popularity, and eventually the couple moved permanently to the area. After the move, the couple added a gas pump to the Bakery, along with a long list of convenience store items for all the visitors and locals alike. Throughout the years, the store has changed named from Dernberger's, to Wilson's Corner Store, to its current name, Port Sheldon Party Store. Although the names and owners have changed through the years - the quality of service and detail to customer needs has been consistent. In 1989, family man and business man, Arlen Brenner, bought the store, and Port Sheldon has been owned by his family ever since.
Arlen Brenner cared immensely not only for the needs of his customers, but also for the needs of his family which showed when he gave his 19 year old daughter the opportunity to launch her flower career by selling her floral arrangements at Port Sheldon Party Store. Arlen was not familiar with a floral shop, could not arrange flowers, and really only understood the wholesale gasoline distribution business. But the needs of his family were extremely important to him, so he was happy to give this opportunity to his young daughter to pursue her dreams. Because of the help from her father, Sheri continued to run a successful flower shop for many years, and created wedding floral arrangements for nearly 30 weddings a year.
